Research looking into Dreams and Fairy Tales. Tim Walker.

I have been looking into fairy tales and dreams and what better place than to start with the magical work of Tim Walker.

I love how he creates within what he calls “the parameters of the impossible“. The possibilities are limitless and although his work can have a dark side the joyous always seems to be victorious. He celebrates the light and dark that we all have in us in varying degrees.

Tim Walker’s “Wonderful Things” at the V&A celebrates his life long love and relationship with the V&A the artefacts that he has drawn inspiration from. He has created fairytale, theatrical sets which are borderline surrealist.

I love this shoot based on the Lord of the Flies, Tim Walker has titled it the Lost Boys. The photographs to the left are from the original film and the rest are Tim’s creation. Like the boys from the plane crash in the remote extremities of the Pacific islands who run wild our children can run wild today on the internet with very little to protect them and it does not encourage children to use their own imagination.
